How to negotiate scholarships?

How do you negotiate scholarships with a school you are admitted to? My top school has offered me a pretty generous scholarship so I don't want to seem ungrateful but obviously every dollar helps. How do i approach this? If anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated!!

@TimeIsMoney hmm I think some schools also have a sheet you can fill out to show scholarships you've received from other schools so you can leverage the amount you get. For instance, school X gives you 5k more than school Y, but you prefer school Y so you put down what X offered in the sheet and send it in for Y. From there, they'll probably review and counter or offer the same/ more. Really depends on the school from what I have heard
I also don't know if there's such a thing as casually negotiating via email, but if anyone has experience/ tips on that, I would love to know as well!
