Should I Change My Test Score Date? April 2025

I signed up to take the April 2025 test with the target score of 165. Currently, the highest score I have been able to reach is a 160, though often times I can reach a 162 with blind review. This is after 4 months of studying and completing all of the 7sage material. With the window closing on paying a smaller fee for changing the dates, I cannot decide if I should take the test knowing I will likely score lower than my goal score or take it later when I am more confident and will only have to do the test once. Looking for any advice :)

they say we shouldn't even really register ideally until we are seeing our goal score on PTs. It could happen but if you can still push it forward with no cost I'd say push forward for June, you might be able to get extra points beyond that 165 goal

I also have the april test date and have been considering the same thing. If you do change, is there a cost associated with it?

I am in a _somewhat_similar position, but have decided to go ahead with April and am prepared to take June as well. I have a goal score of 166 and have been able to hit 165 and am averaging about a 163 on each prep test at this point. My BR has hit 166 and 168, but the main reason that I am sticking to April is because I think it is definitely possible to get that average up between 1-3 points before the official test, and I think with your continued hard work, that it will be possible for you, too! I have the mindset that it is my first one, so it already may not go as well as I would like because of nerves, but what if by the time April 10th gets here your average is about a 164 and then you don't take that opportunity? Sure, it may be one point off from your goal, but there is still June, and at least you will have some confidence in the bank knowing that you have the ability to perform at almost exactly where you want to be. I am nervous, too, but I say take the risk if you think you can improve a couple of points in the next month or two! Regardless, it is a very personal decision, and as long as you are happy with what YOU decide, then that is all that matters! Best of luck to you  !

Same, I am planning to take my first LSAT in April. currently PT-ing in high 150s low 160s. Best was a 163. I've been studying about a month and a half (started late I know). I'm wondering if I should just cancel because my end goal is a 170.

My original thought was to take LSAT in April at the beginning of my studying without caring much about the score. Schools are SUPPOSED to use only your best score, after all. Then, I planned to retake the exam in August for my "real" test date where I will hopefully do my best and get that 170. My thought process was that by August, I will have been studying for 7.5 months, hopefully be PT-ing consistently at 170, and I will have taken the LSAT once before . This will hopefully put me in the best place to get a good score.
If I do badly in August (or even if I just think I can do better) I can have September be my "back-up."

However, EVERYONE says "don't sign up for the test until youre hitting your goal scores" so i'm starting to second guess my master plan. Personally, I see myself doing alot better on the exam if I have taken it at least one time prior in a "real" setting (aka on a testing day/ in-person test center with high stress). But considering my current scores are still so much lower than my goals, does that mean I should just postpone it to June?

Even if I get a 170, will schools still look at my lower scores? Or is it not that much of a big deal to take the LSAT in April and probably get a 160 if I still get that juicy 170 in August? Am I just wasting attempts? aoigholaigo;iagp;jop;ajig its so stressful I wish there was just one correct answer.
