I will add the following warning. Just because a schools says they will consider a June score does not really mean that someone has a serious shot with just a June score. Schools love raising the numbers of applicants to yield protect. I
Just because they allow up to 4 pages does not mean that they necessarily want or expect you to reach the maximum. I think a well-written 2 page PS is sufficient regardless of the school's maximum.
I think it's pretty cool that you were moved enough to change your career plans. I happen to think that such a personal statement would be viewed positively, even by someone who didn't agree with your political views.

I think it is harder to deal with anxiety if you look at December as your "only chance" to succeed. If you allow for the possibility of one or more retakes, it will be easier to approach the December test with less anxiety.
