If you want relatively favorable sections depending on your strengths could you have a sense of what the trend might be ahead of taking the test?

Yeah dude. That's why it's lifechanging.

Secondly, you'll have a score to gauge yourself.
I think this is the biggest gain, honestly. Otherwise you will always be wondering and will have less of a real-world baseline going into a retake.

Will the schools treat a cancel the same way as a bad score ?
They won't care about a bad score so long as you have a good one to give them.

And even if you got a 145 and later get a 170 then all you need is a wicked short addendum explaining that you had mono leading up to the test.
Exactly.
@Pacifico 's reasoning is the same as my own, @Ghoorch
Sounds like you don't have a reason to cancel. You'll get the score in time to sign up to take in February. You've already "spent" the take so you might as well get a score for it.

From those who have some insights to share -- do you think that it is possible to hit a 170+ by the February exam date? If I'm scoring a consistent 164/165 on timed exams now?

I hate this skipping passages strategy but if you're going to do it then I think skipping the one with the fewest questions is the better way to go.
Yeah, I agree with this. Damage control.
