I'll be starting my essay writing in earnest on September 18th, so once I have a draft ready I'll definitely hit you guys up. The more pairs of eyes we can get the better, I'll happy exchange with everybody! Even @"Alex Divine" haha
@spitzy11 I couldn't agree more with the general strategy of warming up before PTs and certainly on test day. For the June test I did 2 games, 12 LR questions and an RC passage at home right before driving to the test center, and it definitely helpe…
My LR strategy is fairly similar to many of you. I try to at least see each question in the first 25 minutes. For each question I slash through ACs that I'm 100% sure are wrong and circle ACs that I feel 100% sure are correct.
Each question with 4 …
@dfletch5 That's the dream! I'm hoping to get at least 172, but the higher the better! I figure the potential for $10,000+ a year in scholarship is worth studying for 2 months. Can't hurt:)
@jkatz1488 nah, i bought all the available PTs and just studied by taking PTs and reviewing the ones I got wrong. I used the free 7sage stuff, powergames LG Bible, and a version of blind review to improve, but that was about it.
I think there is a lot of value, especially if you're just starting out. However, I've already been studying for 6 months, and have 170 from June in my back pocket, so most of the core curriculum is old news to me. I don't think the explanations, wh…
Obviously stress on test day is inevitable, unless you are a Zen machine I think you have to take all the steps you can to.mi I miss it and deal with it. For me things that help are as follows:
1. Take prep tests in an environment that is as close…
@SeeYouThere2018
I would agree that the more recent tests are generally more representative of what you can expect to encounter in September, so probably best to take those as you said. However, there seems to be a recent trend toward unique logic…
@LSAT2017123 I have a very similar schedule to yours, working 7:30 to 5 minimum, often 6 or 7pm. Fortunately my job doesn't require as much human interaction
My best advice would be quality over quantity of study time. 90 minutes of focused, produ…
Addendum.
I'm mainly concerned with RC, and to a lesser degree LR. Logic games are on lockdown, always -1 or -0. LR I do well on but there are a few question types where I think drilling would benefit me. Usually -2 per section. RC I am more incon…
@AllezAllez21 I do see your point. I think the crux of my question may be about how quickly these techniques become subconscious. Right now I have to take extra time to think about what type of question i'm working on, how to break it down, and all…
@"Alex Divine" Ok, but same question for lsac waiver, how destitute must I be to qualify? Because I can gamble away my paychecks on lotto tickets if it will help me save money.
@rebeccasunshine Thank you! I was unaware of that, will certainly check for other schools that waive fees for early applicants. Even more incentive to get my ducks in a row sooner rather than later!
I totally agree with @AllezAllez21 I'll be retaking purely because I understand statistical variance so even if I don't improve I could score a point or two higher just from variation. A few points can be the difference between UofM and Michigan Sta…
Just got my score, 170, so I can confirm -9 curve. Hoped for better, but satisfied, should get me into UofM and Northwestern, will retake in September to try for a bump in scholarship $. Good luck everybody!!!!
