Looks good - are any of them retakes?
Most important - I want to stress quality over quantity. Yes, top scorers often take lots of PTs, but Proper Review is so important. I'd rather a student properly review and get the most out of PTs - even if i…
@alexandergreene93
Great question. Before my first LSAT I was scoring between high 160s and low 170s. So it should have been higher....
Yes, I was shocked. With that one, there was actually a huge noise disturbance outside and I think it contri…
@emli1000 and @ddakjiking - by the time I finished my 2nd lsate take I had done the bulk of prepping (over 40 PTs and Blind Review in addition to the 7Sage course), so I had the foundation.
So I focused on Quality prep and working on weakenesses. …
@brna0714 I can relate to what you're asking. I think it's okay to get "obsessed" with the LSAT - provided it's healthy and you don't lose sight of what's important. If you wanna retake for scholarship opps or even just to know you hit the 170 ma…
- Very first PT 149
- Studied my but off and eventually PTed in the 170s
- Planned for a 170 plus!
But...
- Oct 14 LSAT 162 (85th Pctl)
- Dec 14 LSAT 165 (91st Pctl)
- June 15 LSAT 173 (99th Pctl)!
There are two kinds of people in this world …
Thanks @"Dillon A. Wright" - I am SOOOO Happy to be a Sage. It was a long humbling road - thank you for the title and all of the support of the 7Sage community!
One of the things that really helped was that after I did prep work ie 7sage course and a bunch of practice games, then I got a list of 10 hardest games and practiced and reviewed those over and over.
Thanks so much @nicole.hopkins and @Pacifico
@joannewu9 I don't want to color expectations based on my experience. I'll say it took a long time (read what @"J.Y. Ping" says - students plan on a summer or a few months but you should ideally plan on…
I used to love ticongeroga blacks. Then a few days before the May LSAT I found warriors for cheaper at Target. Tried them and loved them - specifically they don't get dull as quickly.
BTW I'm a lefty and I was okay with the circular grip.
Meditating helps. I think @"J.Y. Ping" has a link to meditation in the stimulus. Make sure you take care of yourself when you're not PTing. Clean eating, exercise and adequate sleep.
BTW - I used to get crazy headaches and eye fatigue. Went to th…
Excellent Points @Mike - I think a lot of people overlook the timing points you made about getting the comfortable Qs out of the way - thanks for emphasizing!
I myself have gotten a but comfortable with time so I wanna start reminding myself of ti…
@ddakjiking is right. I think it's best to be open to time sinks being mixed in sooner and be ready to skip and come back if time allows. Re-read/watch @"J.Y. Ping" 's lesson on skipping from the syllabus.
Well said. @"Jonathan Wang" I hope I'm not being presumptuous here, but I think a big component is that there "skills" are generally something we can improve on and they are not "fixed."
I'd like to think I have the same inherent potential before …
1st - realize that fear (or letting yourself get overwhelmed by fear) is your worst enemy, so take a break and ground yourself by focusing on the basics:
-Read the rule carefully. In fact, slow down and circle key elements of the intro and the rule…
I'm doing last recent PTs, and BRing them. Also, on non-pt days I do logic games off lists of hardest logic games (luckily a bulk of them are in older PTs).
@blah170blah - good questions, lemme explain:
It's not so much that I look for them, it's that I'm on the lookout for them... I know that sounds the same, but there is a distinction, and it's part of why it's not too time consuming. When I see a …
My 180 watch broke - I do not recommend. Do what JY suggests: Get a 16 dollar sports watch with a spinning bezel on Amazon and just set it to 12:00 every time. It works better than my 180 watch ever did!

I also pay attention to language that indicates Logical Indicators (ie unless, if...then...). Seeing more and more of that in RC.
Review any lessons you need to and BR. I mean really BR - even JY says to talk out your thinking when you BR - essentially talk to yourself :-) seriously talk to yourself - nobody is there to listen anyway and by speaking your reasoning you really…
Better later with your higher score than earlier with less. That being said, not a bad idea to prep for Sept/Oct and then seeing where you are before deadline to change the date. It will force you to study earlier and stay disciplined over the sum…
I agree re sleep, water BRing and PTing - especially around time of test 1230.
I would also add a few other things:
A poster talked about the importance of habit list cycle referencing the book, The Power of Habit.
The idea is to make the whole p…
Thanks @nicole.hopkins I may just get it. And thanks @DumbHollywoodActor - I appreciate the heads up but I'm past those PTs for testing - thanks anyway.
@nicole.hopkins out of curiosity - can you tell me about Manhattan RC. I've seen you and others mention it before. I bought the LSAT Trainer to supplement my work. But do you think Manhattan RC is also worth it? I don't mind buying another book …
I agree. @"Kristen B" you needed a break. Start with some games. Maybe a section of each. then a full pt. Just posting on here could get you back in the groove of things.
@"GSU Hopeful" It depends on what you want. I consistently have heard from 170 plus scorers that they took over 30 pts. Perhaps some got by with less. But Most of the 170 scorers I met have done around 30
@nicole.hopkins I couldn't agree more. I think because people are less familiar with LR and Games, that gets most of the attention and even the best LSAT instructors/courses focus more on techniques - I can't blame them. But I really think there's…
